Winning Michigan Jobs coalition praises legislative approval of bills creating the Jobs for Michigan Investment Fund

LANSING, Mich. – A broad coalition of job creators, economic development professionals and industry leaders from across the state today praised the Michigan House of Representatives for passing House Bills 5602-5604, which address two of the main concerns posed by the Winning Michigan Jobs coalition by making it possible to assemble and develop more sites and offer more competitive incentives to attract new jobs and investment.

“It’s encouraging to see Michigan’s elected leaders moving forward with bipartisan support to restock the economic development tool chest,” said Bob Trezise, CEO of the Lansing Economic Area Partnership. “There’s been a steady erosion of this state’s competitive resources over the past decade, and this is a solid start to getting Michigan back on the right track.”

Maureen Krauss, CEO of the Detroit Regional Partnership, said: “These bills are a great first step to getting Michigan off the sidelines in the competition for new investment. We’ve got more work to do in the long term, but this will show future investors that Michigan is serious about strengthening its approach to new jobs for our residents.”

Winning Michigan Jobs is a group of regional and state leaders formed to provide a comprehensive, consistent, competitive economic development strategy.
